Sizing

Are my machines correctly sized?

Size

As technology is changing and evolving toward smaller and more efficient products, compressor systems are doing the same. One of the most important elements involved in compressor system design? Ensuring that your compressors are properly sized for your process! Improperly sizing your compressors can lead to problems with both production levels and increased energy costs, so it’s essential to have a thorough understanding of the amount of pressure and flow required by your tools and applications. Additionally, newer & more efficient technologies are available, which means that you have a deeper understanding of the application and usage to size your compressor correctly. Other items you should consider when sizing a compressor system could include:

Measuring the Air Requirement. Calculate not only the sum of air use for all machines, tools, and processes, but add in estimates for leakage, wear and tear, and future changes in the air requirement.

Calculating Working Pressure. Different types of equipment, from compressors to piping to filters, demand different pressures within the same compressor system.

Calculating Air Flow. You need your compressor to power your application without issue, so knowing how frequently the processes must be done and/or how many jobs are being performed simultaneously.

Compressors are not one-size-fits-all products, so let’s not treat them as such. Look through our resources below to discover how to properly size your compressor, as well as a few tips on how to decrease the costs associated with running your compressor system.
