However, it’s not every day that you hear about compressor technology being used at a paleontological dig in Australia. And it’s certainly not every day that you have a significant dinosaur find named in honor of your company.

The Atlascopcosaurus, meaning “Atlas Copco lizard,” is an herbivorous dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous period in present Australia. The dinosaur was named after Atlas Copco in recognition of material support provided for decades of archeological research that yielded the discovery of two new species of dinosaurs.

The dig required a range of equipment including compressors, rock drills, air-powered breakers, oil bottles and air hoses. Because archaeological digs involve long working days, reliability was a key necessity of the equipment.
