We're excited to announce that the GA VSD+ range of compact, oil-injected rotary screw compressors was named a finalist for 2013 Product of the Year by Plant Engineering. For 26 years, Plant Engineering’s Product of the Year competition has celebrated innovative product development by identifying and honoring the best new products in the manufacturing industry.

The GA VSD+ incorporates many big ideas into one small compressor. The range of compact, oil-injected rotary screw compressors reduces energy consumption by 50 percent compared to a traditional load/unload compressor of the same type, is 15 percent more efficient than the previous generation and offers a 12 percent improvement in free air delivery. Plus, the motor significantly exceeds the latest NEMA Premium efficiency requirements.

The GA VSD+ will be competing against the best new products in the industry for 2013 Product of the Year. Voting began on Nov. 18 and will continue until Dec. 31; those who buy and/or specify products for the plant floor are eligible to vote. Be on the lookout for your November issue of Plant Engineering magazine to read about the products vying for this year’s title.

The GA VSD+ is reflective of Atlas Copco’s drive for innovation and represents one of the most innovative changes to rotary screw technology since we launched the world’s first economical to manufacture variable speed drive compressor in 1994.  If you’d like to learn more about the GA VSD+ or any of Atlas Copco’s innovative products, contact us or leave us a note in the comments below.
