New Technology, New Ways to Save

Many businesses are open 24/7, and wastewater treatment facilities are no exception by any means. They are a critical function of many manufacturing processes. And, when nature calls, they’re there to answer – day or night (unless you don’t have a toilet in your home). But this process also requires tremendous amounts of energy.

The low pressure blowers used to break down organic matter in the wastewater treatment process account for about 70 percent of all energy used at a wastewater treatment facility. Collectively, this adds up to 3 percent of all of the energy consumed in the United States – 56 billion kWh, or $2.8 billion each year.

That’s why we developed the oil-free ZS screw blower, a positive displacement machine that pairs male and female rotors to compress air while reducing energy costs at an industry-tested 30 percent lower rate than a conventional rotary lobe blower. At the beginning of the compression cycle of the screw blower, air at the inlet fills the flute space and is continually compressed internally as the two parts mesh with each revolution until air cycles through and is pushed through the discharge outlet. The air is compressed internally, so the discharge volume is smaller than the suction volume and thus requires less energy.

This video details the ways our screw blower compressors can help make any wastewater treatment facility more energy efficient. Want to see how your facility can find new ways to lower energy costs? Learn more at www.efficiencyblowers.com.
