March 22 is World Water Day and 2013 has been named the International Year of Water Cooperation by the United Nations General Assembly. World Water Day is held annually on March 22 as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

Atlas Copco is committed to global sustainability and supports programs and organizations that bring safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Earlier this year, Atlas Copco celebrated their 140th anniversary and donated $60,000 from the Atlas Copco Water for All program to New York City-based non-profit charity: water.

What makes the Atlas Copco Water for All program special?

  • The program is employee-run with chapters in countries all over the world.
  • Water for All was founded in 1984 to help the people of Peru following a terrible draught.
  • Atlas Copco double-matches employee contributions to Water for All. So, for every $1 donated by an employee, Atlas Copco Group donates an additional $2.
  • Membership is voluntary; Atlas Copco has around 350 active members in the USA who have donated $239,000 to fund water projects.
