Next Generation GA Built on Innovation, Ingenuity

Steve Jobs, the late Apple CEO and revered technology visionary, once said, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” It’s important to celebrate success, but dwelling on it can prove to be a death sentence. Never being one to settle on success, we developed a new generation of our 40 to 126 hp GA oil-injected screw air compressor range. Was there anything wrong with the previous incarnations? No. We just wanted to see if we could make it better. And, we did.

Without sacrificing any of the performance, reliability, or sustainability customers have come to expect from our existing GA compressors, our new GA range delivers up to 35 percent energy savings on average. It also eliminates compressor idle time and and blow-off loss.

The new GA range includes three options: the GA 37-90 VSD (50 to 125 hp), the GA 30+-75+ (40 to 100 hp) premium fixed-speed, and the GA 37-90 (50 to 125 hp), delivering solid performance and Free Air Delivery (FAD) in a base package.

The improved design also features a cool canopy and a single-ducting principle. This, in addition to IE3/NEMA premium efficiency motors and high-efficiency screw elements, have also resulted in decreased temperatures at the GA’s element by as much as 18 degrees F.

The entire GA line features improvements to the oil-treatment system, resulting in up to 50 percent less oil use and fewer maintenance demands (and the labor that comes with it). The air compressor’s integrated condensate treatment can be safely disposed of directly into a sewage treatment system, making it suitable for ISO 14001 certified companies. The GA’s electrical cubicle also features a forced-air cooling system that extends the life of the compressor’s electrical components by drawing in less dust and particulate.

The new GA line also features Atlas Copco’s Elektronikon®, the compressor control system that provides system managers with round-the-clock remote monitoring capabilities. A mobile “app” is also available to allow remote monitoring from smart phone devices and tablets.

The integrated design and industry-leading low noise operation of the new GA range allows the compressor to be placed right at the heart of the production environment. Combined with the integration of the air and condensate treatment equipment, the new GA range offers complete versatility for the customer. The GA’s integrated dryer, an option for all machines in the compressor range, also uses an environmentally friendly refrigerant (R410A) that reduces the dryer’s power consumption by up to 50 percent and does not contribute to ozone depletion, in accordance with guidelines stipulated in the Montreal Protocol.
