Sustainability. Innovation. Stewardship. These are three words that carry a lot of weight, three words that mean a lot, particularly in the manufacturing world. But they are words that we are proud to say are routinely associated with Atlas Copco when people are talking about responsible business practices.
This week we were included in a list compiled by Newsweek that ranks us as the No. 12 global industrial goods provider in the magazine's Green Rankings 2012. This list is based on our environmental performance relative to on impact, management and reporting practices. Overall, the magazine ranked us No. 177 out of the Top 500 in the world.
Earlier this year, Forbes listed us among the world’s 100 most innovative companies and included Atlas Copco in the Dow Jones Sustainability index for 2012-13. This is not the first time this has happened. We’ve had repeat appearances here, receiving regular recognition for our company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Is this just bragging? Maybe a little bit. But we hope, more importantly, that it serves as an example that others will follow. One person engaging in responsible behavior can be contagious, and that’s a good thing. It may take a village to raise a child, as the saying goes, but one person has to start. One person has to lead the way. Why can’t that be you?
