Five Questions to Ask Your Compressed Air Auditor

We talk a lot about compressed air audits. This is because typical savings resulting from an audit range from a 30% to 50% reduction in operating costs if the customer implements all of the audit suggestions. And, that’s a lot of savings.

Before you can dive into these potential savings, you first have to hire a company to perform the audit. Energy audits come in all shapes and sizes and providers should be considered carefully. Be cautious of how the audit will be performed and by whom.

Here are five questions to ask before hiring a company to perform an audit:

  1. Will the company evaluate the complete system, including both the supply and demand sides?
  2. What kind of report will be provided following the audit?
  3. Does the company offer a post audit or an annual PM check-up study?
  4. Will the company help fix inefficiencies that are discovered during the audit?
    And, most importantly,
  5. Can the audit be performed when the systems are running normally? (This ensures that there is no need for any downtime.)

With 30% to 50% in potential savings waiting to be discovered through a compressed air audit, it is important to do your homework before hiring the company who will perform the audit. If you don’t ask the right questions, you could be missing out on significant energy savings.
