Hosted from Mar. 23-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., NPE2015 is the world’s largest plastics trade show and conference.
Compressed Air and the Plastics Industry
Compressed air and vacuum are used in the plastics industry for a variety of applications, including plastic molding. In a typical plastic molding application, a plastic sheet is heated and stretched. Then, vacuum is used to form the plastic around the mold. As the plastic cools, the sheet permanently adopts the shape of the mold. Low pressure compressed air is then used to release the plastic part from the mold.
