It’s one thing when you know you’re doing good work. But when outsiders recognize the ways your business practices are making the world a better place? That’s a pretty good feather in your cap.

Everyone loves lists – it’s a fact of life. And lists are especially appealing when: 1) they highlight the good things people are doing to make the world a better, cleaner, safer place; and 2) you’re included on them.

That’s why everyone at Atlas Copco was pleased to once again be included in the index of the 2016 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World. This prestigious recognition should also come with a footnote acknowledging that Atlas Copco, already a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions, was named in accordance with the list’s standards as the world’s most sustainable machinery company. Ranked No. 34, Atlas Copco was the only company in the Machinery category to be included among the top 100.

This is the 10th time Atlas Copco has been included in the Global 100 rankings, which were presented January 21 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The recognition reflects the Swedish company’s commitment to integrating sustainability into all levels of its operations and the way that philosophy generates tremendous added value for its customers, the industry and the global community as a whole.

Atlas Copco pioneered the integration of innovative, energy-saving products in 1994 with variable speed compressors, technology that enables compressors to run at the speed necessary for operations at a given time, altering that speed to meet demand and, as a result, cutting energy consumption. In 2013, Atlas Copco launched its patented VSD+ technology, which reduces energy use by more than half when compared to traditional compressors.

Atlas Copco was also included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index for 2015-16 and was ranked No. 11 in the Newsweek Green Rankings – one of the world’s most respected and esteemed rankings of corporate responsibility.

The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations index measures and compares corporations around the world based on a range of key sustainability factors in a variety of categories, including transparency, resource productivity and a number of other social and governance factors.
