Atlas Copco was recently included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the third consecutive year and in the inaugural UN Global Compact 100 Stock Index.
Inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is based on annual company reviews and comparison to industry peers. The Index looks at management of opportunities and associated risk that are derived from economic, environmental and social developments; corporate governance and strategy; and key performance indicators like emission and waste.
The Global Compact 100 companies were selected based on their adherence to the Global Compact’s ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. The “GC 100” index also showed a total investment return of 26.4 percent during the past 12 months, outperforming the general global stock market.
Already this year, Atlas Copco was listed among the world’s 100 most innovative companies by Forbes and was named a “Leader” in the FTSE4Good Index, which measures globally recognized corporate responsibility standards in environmental, social and governance practices. That followed recognition as one of the world’s most sustainable companies in the Global 100 list presented at the World Economic Forum, which followed our ranking as one of the world’s most ethical companies by Ethisphere Institute earlier this year.
