Atlas Copco Celebrates World Safety and Health at Work Day

/

Atlas Copco is holding our annual Safety, Health and Wellbeing Day in conjunction with World Safety and Health at Work Day on April 28th.

The health, safety and wellbeing of its employees has always been a top priority at Atlas Copco. The aim of the Atlas Copco Safety, Health and Wellbeing Day is to emphasize and reinforce the importance of safety, health, and wellbeing to the Group’s Culture. Every year each Atlas Copco location plans a series of events, drills, workshops, etc. for their employees.

But health and safety are not just about your employees, but also checking the safety and health of your compressed air equipment. It’s not only important for your company’s efficiency and products, but for the safety of your employees.

Some of the key safety checks that should be performed include:

  • Visual inspection – Check all compressed air equipment for any signs of damage, such as cracks or dents. Inspect the hoses, connectors, and fittings for any signs of wear or corrosion.
  • Check the pressure release valves – The pressure release valves should be checked to see if they are functioning properly and set to the correct pressure. If a pressure relief valve malfunctions it can not only lead to equipment failure but also potentially dangerous situations.
  • Checking the air receiver – Make sure to check the air receiver for any signs of corrosion or damage. The air receiver should be drained regularly to prevent the build-up of moisture and debris.
  • Inspect and change filters often – Filters should be clean and functioning properly. Clogged or dirty filters can reduce the efficiency of the equipment and lead to potential safety hazards.
  • Electrical connections – ensuring that all electrical connections are secure and not damaged is important to preventing any potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Lubrication – Changing the oil and making sure all moving parts are all properly lubricated. Poor lubrication can cause equipment failure and potential safety hazards.
  • Noise level – it is important to check the noise level of your equipment regularly to ensure it is within safe limits. Prolonged exposure to high noise levels can cause hearing damage.

It is recommended that these safety checks be performed regularly, and any equipment found to be faulty or unsafe should be repaired or replaced immediately. If you need some help performing these inspections, contact an Atlas Copco expert today.
