What's Happening at WEFTEC?

The Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference, known more commonly as WEFTEC, is the premier trade show for professionals in the wastewater industry. We’re at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans this week for the show, and, once again, we’re here to talk about our ZS range of low pressure screw blowers.

But there is another horn we’re tooting this week, and that follows the recent addition of Houston Service Industries, commonly known in the industry as HSi, to help support additional opportunities for expansion of low pressure equipment across municipal and industrial wastewater markets. We’re using WEFTEC as the official launch of this new relationship. Come by booth No. 7129 for product demonstrations or just for a quick meet-and-greet. We’ll have folks from Atlas Copco and HSi there. This new relationship gives us greater access to multistage centrifugal blowers and high speed turbo blowers, further complementing our ZS screw blowers and ZB centrifugal air blowers.

Initially, we’ll continue to provide a mix of both of our products. In the long-term, you’ll likely see the Atlas Copco branded products sold and managed through HSi’s channels.

In the wastewater treatment process, millions of bacteria feed on organic waste, breaking it down into carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water. Because these bacteria require oxygen as part of this process, large quantities of air are blown into aeration tanks. Digester gas, a byproduct of the process, can also be upgraded and compressed to generate electricity. And because air and gas blowers typically represent up to 70 percent of the total electricity costs at water treatment facilities, many facilities that incorporate blowers that use our latest technology reduce these costs by an average of 30 percent.

In addition to wastewater treatment, other industries with blower and vacuum applications that can benefit from the latest energy saving technologies include pneumatic conveying, power generation, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, pulp and paper, textiles, cement, and general manufacturing.
