In honor of our 140th anniversary, we asked some of our product managers to tell us about their favorite Atlas Copco product. The following response comes from Mike Sons, Product Marketing Manager - >90kW Oil-Injected Screws for the U.S. Oil-free Air Division. For the next several weeks, we’ll be featuring employees’ top products on Wednesdays.
“My favorite Atlas Copco product is the GA500 stationary oil-injected rotary screw air compressor because it is a beast of a machine. The GA500 is 7 feet wide, 8 feet tall, 19 feet long, weighs 17,500 pounds and can deliver over 3,200 cfm of air with its 700 horsepower motor. Now that is a machine!
Power and size aside, this machine is equally impressive for its energy efficiency and technologically advanced features such as the electronic control and monitoring system, automatic water drains, plate-type coolers, energy recovery system and low-sound enclosure.
The GA500 is Atlas Copco at its finest.”
Mike Sons was born and raised in Ohio and received his Mechanical Engineering degree in 1994. He has 19 years combined experience in mechanical engineering, fluid systems engineering, applications engineering, product management, pricing management, sales, sales management and executive-level management. He has worked with Grob Systems in Ohio and Germany and Parker-Hannifin in Ohio, Alabama and Connecticut. When he is not working he enjoys playing basketball, restoring cars and spending time with his wife and teenage son in the great outdoors.
