‘Tis the season – the season for trade shows, that is. Earlier this week you probably saw that some of our team will be in Las Vegas next week for the Specialty Equipment Market Association show, or SEMA. We’ve got double duty next week, so we’ll also be in Atlanta October 31 through November 2 for the World Energy Engineering Congress show, or WEEC. How can we be in two places at once? Good question. It’s just one of those kinds of weeks.
At the show (the one with two E’s), we’re focusing on the ways our air compressors provide energy efficiency and energy-saving capabilities. It’s no secret that compressed air systems, often referred to as the Fourth Utility following electricity, natural gas and water, are a critical component of many manufacturing processes – you can find a compressed air system in 70 percent of all manufacturing facilities in the United States. But they also account for as much as 30 percent of the total electrical consumption in these facilities, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
We’ll have a working cut-away of an oil-free rotary screw compressor element to help show how Atlas Copco develops technology that helps our customers save money. Also, our own Frank Moskowitz, a compressed air systems analyst with Atlas Copco Compressors, is presenting a seminar about the 14 R’s of Compressed Air Energy Management. Who doesn’t love a good list? Frank will be speaking from 2:30-3 p.m. on Thursday in Track K, Industrial Energy Management, and he’ll identify and review 14 ways that managers like you can combat the inherent energy losses that are the physical result of the compressed air process.
We’ll also be able to tell you more about our new Elektronikon® mobile app that allows you to monitor and control compressed air systems anywhere from your smartphone or tablet. Come by booth No. 200, in Building A, and see us, won’t you?
