In a recent blog post on PlantServices.com, editor Mike Bacidore reflects on the future of remote monitoring and how manufacturers might create a better connected plant to improve performance, reduce downtime and increase profitability.
He writes, “Imagine a manufacturing environment where facilities require OEMs to supply uptime and productivity…is it asking too much for equipment providers to assure reliability, whether it’s by providing users with analysis of data or by providing the maintenance services, as well?”
Advanced data monitoring of equipment is one of the most effective strategies to help facilities avoid costly downtime. In the post, Bacidore mentions a facility in Phoenix where a service technician arrived at the door before the plant manager even knew there was a problem. The facility’s compressed air system features our advanced data monitoring program, SmartLink, which provides both the plant operator and Atlas Copco service technicians the tools to recognize and react to performance changes in real-time.
Bacidore’s post also outlines some of the benefits of creating a more connected facility, including easier sharing of information between the organization, service providers and asset partners. In the connected world, effective monitoring results in the reduction of equipment failures, lower lifecycle costs, improved productivity and increased profitability.
