The Neos Variable Speed Drive (VSD) was honored with the Silver Award in the compressed air category during the 2014 Product of the Year award ceremony hosted by Plant Engineering. For 27 years, Plant Engineering’s Product of the Year competition has celebrated innovative product development by identifying and honoring the best new products in the manufacturing industry based on a reader survey.

The Product of the Year competition is a celebration of new and innovative products released in 2014. The Neos drive is reflective of Atlas Copco’s commitment to innovation, and incorporates features and benefits that make it the most compact, efficient and reliable solution available, especially when compared to off-the-shelf offerings.

Proprietary VSD Technology for Oil-Injected Screws

Introduced in March 2014, the Neos is Atlas Copco’s proprietary VSD drive technology for the GA 50-125 hp oil-injected rotary screw compressors. Robust, efficient and reliable, the Neos drive is specifically designed to meet the demands of heavy duty air compressor applications. In comparison to traditional drives that are typically designed for light duty applications with quadratic torque curves, the new drive technology is designed specifically for applications that have a constant torque curve, which is much more suitable for air compressor applications.
