Introducing the Neos Drive

In Greek, “neos” means recently born, new or young, and is therefore a fitting name for our newest technological innovation—the Neos drive. Even though the Neos is technically “young,” it’s also a result of collaboration between Atlas Copco and our long-time electronics providers. Our combined years of experience and knowledge of energy-efficient compressor design helped us to develop proprietary drive technology engineered to meet the demands of heavy duty air compressor applications.

What makes the Neos drive better than previous technology?

  • Designed for heavy duty applications – whereas traditional drives are typically designed for light duty applications with quadratic torque curves, the Neos drive was designed specifically for applications that have a constant torque curve. This allows the compressor to meet the demands of heavy duty applications.
  • Robust and reliable – the Neos drive features an IP5x rated enclosure, which greatly reduces the risk of drive failure by blocking the introduction of outside contaminants into the electronic drive.
  • Simplified controls – the Neos drive also features simplified controls and options that cater to the specific needs of an air compressor application.

When will the Neos drive be available?

The Neos drive is currently available in all new compressors in the 50-125 hp range of oil-injected screw compressors with variable speed drive. In addition, older Atlas Copco compressors can be retrofitted with the new drive.
