If you’ve ever taken a trip to Spain then you’re probably familiar with the beautiful southeastern city of Valencia. The over 2000-year-old city is located along the Mediterranean Sea, making it one of the most important commercial ports in the area. Surrounded by the ocean and beautiful parks, the local community is dedicated to keeping the city clean and environmentally sustainable.

Helping to keep Valencia’s environment top of mind is automotive supplier Matrival. The company makes chrome parts, such as radiator grills and car emblems, for automobiles, and they recently implemented a new compressor to reduce the plant’s energy consumption.

Matrival installed Atlas Copco’s GA VSD+, an oil-injected rotary screw compressor, for a number of reasons:

  • Small size – The GA VSD+ utilizes a compact design that’s better fit for confined spaces. In Matrival’s case, they needed a small compressor that could easily fit into its transport elevator, and the GA VSD+ was just the right size.
  • Energy efficient – In addition to taking up less floor space, the VSD compressor automatically adjusts motor and element speed to match the air demand, considerably cutting energy use and costs by up to 50 percent.
  • Revolutionary technology – The compressor includes a highly efficient motor, patented compression element and sentinel valve to deliver greater energy savings compared to fixed-speed alternatives.

The GA VSD+ wasn’t the first time Matrival has chosen Atlas Copco for quality compressed air and reduced energy consumption. They’ve partnered with Atlas Copco in the past for compressors that decrease pollution and support many processes and machines throughout Matrival’s facility. Together, they’ve kept environmental sustainability a top priority.
