Can I Install an Air Compressor Anywhere in the Facility?

/

The answer to this question depends on the type of compressor and the type of work performed at your facility. Large compressors used in general manufacturing are most often installed in a centralized compressor room inside the facility. This type of installation is preferable for most industries and results in improved operational efficiency, easy access for users and service personnel, noise control and protection against unauthorized access.

When a separate compressor room is not available, the compressor package may be installed in an area that is used for more than one purpose. Certain risks and inconveniences of this type of installation include noise disturbance from the compressor or the compressor’s ventilation, risk of overheating, drainage concerns and potentially hazardous surroundings or materials.

However, in some industries, air compressors can and should be installed near the point of use. While all compressors should be reliable and energy efficient, compressors installed near the point of use should also be quiet and compact.

The GA VSD+ product line features a vertically-aligned design where motor and drive train share a single drive shaft. This significantly reduces the footprint, allowing the compressor to be installed closer to the point of use. A fan design that mimics the wings of an owl contributes to a highly efficient cooling mechanism while simultaneously decreasing noise levels. And, the line was recently extended up to 50 horsepower, allowing even more industries to take advantage of the increased energy efficiency and reliability this compressor provides.
